I just re-installed my Win 7 and when I installed Chrome, I noticed that for every new page it loads, there are a couple of seconds of 'establishing a secure network connection' before entering the webpage. After that, I can re-enter the page very fast, but it's the first time that something goes weird. The problem also appears in incognito mode.

The problem is that chrome in unusable because it gets stuck on 'Establishing Secure Connection'. The page will not load and eventually times out. I have figured out a temporary way around this, to prove that it is something with chrome, and not my hardware or connection. To be clear, every other program but chrome works properly. Since I reinstalled Windows 10 onto my new 480GB SSD, booting alongside Windows 7, Chrome has been acting super strange. This is annoying due to the fact that I've used Chrome since XP without a hitch until now. Upon installing windows 10 (64-bit) and the necessary drivers for my hardware, the first thing I went to install was Google Chrome. Only I found after installing that it just gets stuck on 'Establishing Secure Connection' for ages and will either fail and say 'This site can't be reached' or it will sit for a while and load after a minute or two. This happens only in chrome browser in windows 10 latest update. This problem is due to Windows Cryptographic Service(CryptoSVC). It occurs mostly when users try to open an HTTPS (SSL) secure site. Chrome takes a hell lot of time load this SSL pages. It keeps on showing Establishing a secure connection. Since I reinstalled Windows 10 onto my new 480GB SSD, booting alongside Windows 7, Chrome has been acting super strange. This is annoying due to the fact that I've used Chrome since XP without a hitch until now. I've read that some people have issues with it regarding the April Creator update.

I don't know what I did yesterday, something went wrong with my browsers.

All my browsers takes forever to load

Firefox shows Performing TLS handshake with <website>..

Opera is trying to redirect somewhere like redir.opera..

Can't browse anything.

I have tried to configure internet option, proxy settings, turn off 'Automatic discover' on LAN settings etc (as suggested on other threads) but no use.

Haven't encountered something like this before.

I am suspecting something changed on OS itself which browsers are trying to use that settings.

I am using Windows 10.

Any suggestion?

After googling for sometime, I came up with this to solve the issue.

For me everything went back to normal and working.

Avast Anti-Virus was the cause in my case

Here was my situation -

• I had two PC's that I upgraded to Windows 10
• I changed the default browser to Firefox (version 39) in both of them.
  
• When using the Search Window at bottom left of Windows 10 screen labelled 'Search the web and Windows', I consistently came up with 'Secure Connection Failed' regardless of what I was searching for. This also occurred within Firefox. This occurred on one of my two PC's, but not the other.
  
• I discovered on another forum that Avast might be the problem
• Sure enough, on the PC that worked, I was using Windows Defender for anti-virus. On the PC that failed I was using Avast Anti-Virus.
• On the PC that failed, I temporarily disabled Avast, and by golly the 'Secure Connection Failed' message was no longer a problem when I entered something in the Search window.
• I re-enabled Avast and the 'Secure Connection Failed' error message reappeared.
• So it appears that using Avast Anti-virus along with Firefox and Windows 10 somehow created the problem.
• I have switched over to Windows Defender on the PC that was causing problems.
