  • Dec 23, 2018  I am having problems creating PDF files from Word docx files when right-clicking the files in File Explorer and choosing 'Convert to Adobe PDF.' I get the hated message: Missing PDFMaker files. Do you want to run the installer in repair mode? Needless to say, running the installer in repair mode does not solve the problem.
  • Nov 18, 2008  To use the PDF Maker functionality (that is also used when you try to create a PDF by right clicking on a file or opening it in Acrobat), you have to have AA X10. In addition, if the system is a 64 bit system you have to update the AA X to the latest version. Even OFFICE files are not that compatible with OFFICE 2007 and OFFICE 2010, not just PDF.
  • Mar 23, 2018  An issue popped up yesterday with a user that I have. If she right-clicks and tries to convert a Word document to PDF, she gets the error.

Try this..

1-Uninstall the program again.
2-Delete the folders that had the program in it.
3-Verify that the adobe printer is removed from the printers window.
4-Remove the registry entries for Adobe from HKLMSoftware.
5-Reinstall the product.
6-Verify that the Adobe printer was created.

Adobe In Design PDF PRINT to PDF ERROR Try This Fix

I have had this problem in the past and there are a ton of suggestions on how to fix.. but I think I found the ultimate.
First I ran into this when a user kept having the error message cannot find 'C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersDocumentsSettingsAdobe PDFSettingsAdobe PDF Converter.joboptions'
I search through all of the blogs and none of the fixes worked.. Then I really looked at the message and the path..
Please note when you get this error you get a dialogue that gives you an option to repair, that does not work? That?s when the light bulb went off.
Please review what I did
1. Follow the path that Adobe is looking for the file.. If you are XP sp2 or 3 user the path will read different on your machine. it NEEDS to be changed yours will read like this 'C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersShared DocumentsAdobe PDFSettings'?. <change it>
2. 'C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersDocumentsAdobe PDFSettings'
It is important to be sure the path is exactly what the error says in other words you may have Shared Documents.. that needs to be changed to just 'Documents in the path..
3.Once you fix the path you will notice a file in the settings folder called Press Quality.joboptions.. there may be a few depending on how many time the user tried to do a repair. rename it to Adobe PDF Converter.joboptions.
Reboot you system

FileMissing pdf maker files message

I am having problems creating PDF files from Word docx files when right-clicking the files in File Explorer and choosing 'Convert to Adobe PDF.' I get the hated message:

Missing PDFMaker files. Do you want to run the installer in repair mode?

Needless to say, running the installer in repair mode does not solve the problem. Neither does re-installing Word (Office 365), re-installing Acrobat, or anything else that I have tried (following the troubleshooting on the Adobe web pages, for example). Many other people have experienced this problem over the years, but I cannot find a solution on the net.

This problem started for me in mid-2018 sometime. I have included a pile of version details below in case anyone is wondering.

Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem? Thank you

1) When I try to right-click a file in File Explorer to convert it to PDF, I get the following message. Running the installer in repair mode does not help. Everything used to work fine (for a year) until an automatic update of Windows during mid-2018 broke everything.

2) I can manually add the Acrobat Tab to the Word Ribbon by going through File/Options/COM Addins, etc. BUT, the tab will not stay there. If I quit Word and restart it, the Acrobat tab on the ribbon is gone.

The Acrobat Tab will show on the MS Word ribbon until I restart Word:

3) Here are the version details. My machine and licenses and versions are all up to date.

Many other people on the net have reported this problem, although no one has provided an answer..
